Who We Are

The United Church of Christ (UCC) is a Protestant denomination formed in 1957 by the union of the Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Congregational Christian Churches. There are more than 5,700 UCC churches throughout the United States today.

The emblem of the UCC contains our motto, “That they may all be one.” (John 17:21) This prayer extends beyond the unity of all churches to the reconciliation of the whole world. The emblem's design contains a crown above the cross, symbolizing Jesus as Lord and Savior, standing on a circle, representing the world. The world is divided into three parts signifying Jesus' command to the disciples, and to all people:

“You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria,
and to the end of the world.” (Acts 1:8)
